320 guests

Full awards ceremony production for Make UK's National Manufacturing Awards Gala Dinner at Madame Tussauds London, including PTZ camera coverage, screens, staging, lighting and audio for 320 guests within a tight venue turnaround.

Introduction

Step 1

Brief

Make UK needed its National Manufacturing Awards Gala Dinner delivered inside Madame Tussauds London, a venue that weaves around set decor, waxwork figures and tented areas in an L-shaped layout rather than a conventional ballroom.

That layout created a genuine sightline problem. With guests spread around a corner and behind set pieces, a large section of the room would never have a direct line of sight to the stage.

The brief also came with a hard deadline. As a public attraction, Madame Tussauds closes to visitors at 4.30pm, with the awards dinner starting at 7pm, leaving a build window of only a few hours to transform the space for 320 guests.

The production needed to solve the sightline challenge properly, not with a single screen bolted on, while still delivering the polish and pace expected of a national industry awards ceremony.

Solutions

Step 3

Solutions

01

PTZ Camera & Screen Coverage

To solve the venue’s sightline challenge, Lexa specified a full PTZ camera solution with screens placed throughout the space, so every guest could see exactly what was happening on stage regardless of where they were seated around the venue’s L-shaped layout. Award winners were featured on screen the moment they were announced, giving the evening a high end, celebrity awards ceremony feel.

02

Staging & Lighting Design

A stage platform was built specifically for the space, paired with a lighting backdrop designed to give the ceremony a proper focal point within the venue’s unconventional layout.

Audio Production & Delays

Full audio production and delay speakers carried sound clearly around the corners and tented sections of the venue, keeping every announcement and speech intelligible throughout the room.

04

Venue AV Integration

As Madame Tussauds’ exclusive AV provider, Lexa controlled all of the venue’s existing in-house AV alongside the production brought in for the evening, integrating both into a single, properly run system.

05

Rapid Build & Turnaround

With Madame Tussauds closing to the public at 4.30pm and the awards dinner starting at 7pm, the entire production had to be built, tested and ready inside a genuinely tight window. It was a big ask delivered through close teamwork across the crew.

Production Management

From planning through to derig, Lexa managed the full technical production, coordinating around the venue’s own operational hours as closely as the ceremony itself.

Step 4

The Result

The Result

Make UK’s National Manufacturing Awards Gala Dinner ran smoothly for 320 guests inside one of London’s more unconventional event spaces.

The PTZ camera and screen solution solved Madame Tussauds’ sightline challenge properly, giving every guest a clear view of the stage and every award winner a genuine moment on screen the second they were announced.

Despite a build window measured in hours rather than days, the production was ready well ahead of doors opening, a result of close coordination across the whole team.

While no formal review was submitted, the client’s response on the night was overwhelmingly positive, with praise for how smoothly the evening came together given the venue’s constraints.
