About

About

The Langham London

The Langham London

Opened in 1865 as Europe’s first Grand Hotel, The Langham London sits on Portland Place with more than twenty event spaces and a Grade II listed Grand Ballroom at its centre, a room that once served as the hotel’s dining room and still carries its renaissance pillars, hand-painted ceiling detail and Murano glass chandeliers. The adjoining Portland Foyer and Courtyard Garden extend the space further, giving organisers room to move guests through several distinct settings within one event.

Working inside a listed room like this means production has to earn its place quietly. Lexa’s approach at The Langham London would be to build sound, lighting and staging around the Grand Ballroom’s existing character rather than laid over the top of it, suited to everything from corporate conferences to black-tie awards dinners. As an AV company working in The Langham London’s category of heritage hotel, that kind of restraint tends to matter as much as the technology itself.

A Grade II listed interior brings its own acoustic quirks, and Lexa’s approach would be to design a PA system around the Grand Ballroom’s existing proportions rather than assume a standard rig will do the job.

Speech Reinforcement for a Listed Room

Screens and projection here would need to sit comfortably against original pillars and chandeliers, giving conferences and product launches clear content without disrupting the room’s listed features.

Presentation Technology for Period Interiors

With hand-painted ceiling work and Murano glass chandeliers to work around, lighting design would focus on warmth and restraint, letting the Grand Ballroom’s own detailing do much of the work.

Lighting Design for Historic Detail

Staging built for the Grand Ballroom would need to flex between formal conference layouts and the more theatrical requirements of an awards dinner or gala.

./04

Staging for Conferences and Galas

For events that extend beyond Portland Place, Lexa’s hybrid event capability would bring remote delegates into a room built more than a century before video conferencing existed.

./05

Hybrid and Streaming Support

Coordinating a full production inside a listed building calls for particular care around load-in, rigging and timings, all of which Lexa’s production management approach would account for.
